Arts festival returns to Llandudno, 12 to 14 September

12 to 14 September 2026 · Llandudno

Llandudno’s autumn arts weekend is back on the calendar. From Friday 12 to Sunday 14 September the town will fold galleries, halls and the promenade into a three day programme of exhibitions, music and short performances, with Mostyn again at the centre of the map.

Organisers say the festival is meant to catch the week after the late summer rush, when rooms are still available and the front is quieter. Hotels along the promenade have already taken bookings from visitors who want the town without the August crush.

Mostyn and the venues around it

Mostyn will run extended hours through the weekend, with new work in the main galleries and a drop in space for local makers. Smaller rooms on Vaughan Street, Gloddaeth Street and the side streets behind Mostyn Street will open for studio visits. The idea is a walkable circuit rather than a single ticketed site.

Music is planned for late afternoon and early evening, indoors if the wind comes off the bay. Organisers have kept the outdoor stages modest. Last year’s lessons were simple: a short set on the promenade works, a long one does not once the temperature drops.

A town between seasons

Traders who struggled through a cautious August see the festival as a useful bridge. Cafés near the gallery say a cultural weekend brings a different crowd from the beach day tripper, one more likely to sit down and stay into the evening. That is the gap the high street has been trying to fill.

Schools and community groups from Conwy and beyond have been offered Saturday workshop places. A Sunday morning walk from Happy Valley down to the gallery is billed as the gentlest way into the programme for visitors who want art without a full timetable.

Full listings are due on the festival boards by the middle of next week. Until then the message from the town is the one on the posters: come after the trams have had their rush, walk between the venues, and give Llandudno a September weekend that is about looking as well as paddling.
